I blogged the other day on trying to consolidate multiple identities online and came across findmeon.com in my researching. They have made a great attempt at coming up with a model that works and is easy to use. They have built a platform that is secure and offers you the ability to keep certain items private. In addition there are existing widgets and API’s for companies to build their own widgets that can be embedded inside blogs, sites, etc…

Findmeon offers the ability to link the Social Networking identities you chose and have ‘badges’ appear on your pages that help link your identities. This is definitely a service that people have been looking for and if the adoption rate is high enough, can really take off.

Social networking unified identity

With many people having more than 1 web ‘Identity’ it gets difficult to keep all the data in sync. You may have your LinkedIn profile for business, your Myspace page for showing your personality to friends, your pictures on Flickr, etc….

Imagine a single site where you store all of your photos, emails addresses, personal information, etc.. instead of many. Then you go to this site and update your information in 1 place and then the individual sites pull from this source. Maybe you have a unique private key, biometric authorization, it doesn’t matter. It’s all about solving a real problem and making an easy to use site that provides a real service. The issue will be getting the big web 2.0 companies to let go of their hold on your data and start pulling from the central location. It would help them save money in the long run (reduced storage costs) but also potentially cost them eyeballs as you would not need to login to them to update your information.

This ’site’ would need to be very secure and assure the user community that their data is safe, but it is doable. I’ve got my business that on here but wouldn’t every large web 2.0 site looking for more users want to advertise on this site? And given the traffic wouldn’t there be ample opportunity to make even more advertising revenue?

I was waiting for a site to come along and help me stay up on all my friends and the changes to their personal pages and blogs.

Spokeo checks on your friends to see who’s favorited new videos on Youtube, uploaded photos to MySpace, or blogged on Blogger. Spokeo tracks friends for you, so you won’t miss an update. These are words from Spokeo.com but I couldn’t have said it better myself.

This technology will allow you to stay connected with anyone using any of the top blogging or Social Networking sites out there including:

Needless to say, there will be more sites added to track in Spokeo and new capabilities added to Spokeo as well, so this site is one to watch!

adperk.com [beyond web 2.0 review]

 Innovative, disruptive (in a good way of course), adperk.com is poised to make a big splash….

Concept: Users watch commercials from different categories and get free items in exchange for their time.

Reality:  Users watch commercials and get free magazines (There does not appear to be a large selection right now).

When more advertisers sign up and there are numerous commercials and in addition there is a greater variety of rewards, this site will make oodles of money.  It was clear and easy to use, it’s just a matter of adoption.

Users watch the short commercials and are forced to enter the word shown at the end of the video in order to earn credits. Credits can be used to earn magazines, but imagine earning ‘Sky Miles’ or coupons to use at a restaurant or 20 cents off at a gas station. The possibilities are endless.
